Spring Ridge Academy's all-girl Therapeutic Boarding School program is designed to help girls ages 13 - 17 in grades 9 - 12. The program has three distinct but interrelated curriculums: an empowering psychological growth program; a well-thoughtout, multi-disciplinary therapy program; and a comprehensive college preparation curriculum. In addition, the school's philosophy is to approach the entire issue of psychological healing and emotional recovery as a process that involves the whole family.
Some New Therapeutic Approaches at Spring Ridge Academy
Spring Ridge Academy works effectively with a broad assortment of girls. Upon enrollment, girls are typically struggling with a variety of issues. Some are dealing with academic issues like low grades, feeling discouraged and unmotivated, and underachievement. Others are handling learning handicap concerns like ADD and ADHD. And yet others are dealing with severe emotional conditions like grief and loss,, anxiety, a sense of entitlement, hopelessness and even suicidal ideation. In addition, behavioral problems are prevalent. They consist of concerns like computer and technological based addictions, defiance, sexual promiscuity, and a constant desire for control. Besides these academic, psychological, and behavioral issues, girls might frequently reveal psychological problems like eating disorders, social problems like substance abuse and alcohol dependence, and medical concerns like celiac condition.
Asked by Lon for a description of the ways to provide kids a psychological framework despite their oppositional habits, Gary described a number of restorative psychological modalities along with the process of monitoring and assessing their efficiency. Throughout the interview, he talked at length about EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and Eriksonian Hypnosis. In addition, he described the merits of Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Post Induction Therapy, Cognitive & Behavioral Therapies, Structural Family Therapy, Experiential Therapy, Insight Oriented Therapy, and Narrative Family Therapy. As Clinical Director, Gary is always on the lookout for emerging healing methods. When he finds one, he gets trained in it and then examines whether it could be made use of successfully at Spring Ridge Academy. This multi-disciplinary approach to therapeutic treatment is working effectively at Spring Ridge Academy.
