Avoid fatty, acidic or spicy foods and do not eat near bedtime. You can elevate your pillows in order to help keep down the stomach acid. If you continue suffering with heartburn, consult your physician.

Mood swings can be offset by practicing meditation and yoga. They are a way to let all of your stress and worries slip away for a while. If your partner or spouse is stressed too, they may want to go with you to a yoga or meditation class.

Get educated. Select a book which will help you throughout your pregnancy. There are thousands of books to choose from if you want to get answers to all your questions. Know that you probably will not go through everything the author describes because everyone goes through a different pregnancy.

Have someone fill up your gas tank, or go to a gas station that is full service. The fumes can be dangerous for your fetus. It's better to simply ask someone else to help than to take that risk.

If your due date has past and you want to encourage labor, walking may help. Walking is healthy and will gently move the baby lower into your uterus. Ask your partner to accompany you. Do not do anything dangerous, like contact exercising.

A birth plan is a great way to plan for labor. You can describe your preferences for music, lighting and anything else that may make you more comfortable and relaxed as you give birth to your new baby. It can be complex or simple; it's up to you.

Prior to attempting to become pregnant, make an appointment with your physician. The doctor will help you formulate a plan and have a safe pregnancy. Preparation is key to a healthy pregnancy.

Change what you eat prior to pregnancy, or immediately after finding out. If you have a healthy diet, your baby will benefit and will be more likely to eat healthy foods when they grow older.

Make sure to keep all doctors appointments so as to catch any potential situations earlier. The intervals at which you see your doctor are important to monitor the progress of your pregnancy and the development of the fetus. If you want to be healthy and have a healthy baby, be on time.
