Jamison Monroe joined Allen Cardoza and Dr. Melody Foxx on the "Answers for the Family" talk show, which can be heard on LA Talk radio. The topic was about what parents can do when their teens indulge in substance abuse. The guest explained that substance abuse extended beyond just street drugs and alcohol, and included psychotropic drugs prescribed by physicians.

Jamison founded Newport Academy to deliver caring help as well as therapy for teenagers fighting drug abuse problems.

Despite a great private school education and living in a relatively normal household, Jamison felt the stress of having to receive great grades and to do well in sports. Consequently, he started getting addicted to Adderall, a prescription drug that blends amphetamine as well as dextroamphetamine to promote central nervous system stimulation. Jamison now believes that this drug is overprescribed for any type of signs that may indicate attention deficit hyperactive disorder (ADHD).

His own road to recovery began after he was admitted to a therapy center that assisted him by supplying tailored, comprehensive and holistic treatment. Teenager's Addictions

Jamison described how the misuse of prescription medicines was the first cause of teen fatalities.
